Treatment, results and safety

Goals, indications, sessions, comfort and safety.

What are the goals of scalp micropigmentation?

It can recreate a natural shaved effect, improve the appearance of density in thinning areas and visually soften scars.

Which conditions can be treated?

It may be considered for androgenetic, areata or scarring alopecia, insufficient transplant density and traction or traumatic alopecia.

How many sessions are needed?

A treatment usually includes three sessions: the first two a few days apart and a review about one month later.

Is the treatment painful?

For most people it is almost painless. Particularly sensitive clients may feel temporary, manageable discomfort.

Is it safe?

Sterile single-use needles and biocompatible pigments compliant with applicable regulations are used.

Will people notice it close up?

A carefully designed treatment produces a very natural result; others usually notice the overall improvement.

Preparation and maintenance

Practical guidance before and after treatment.

How short should my hair be for a shaved effect?

About 0.4 mm generally creates an immediately even appearance.

How often should I shave?

Growth varies, but shaving every three or four days is usually sufficient.

Can white or grey hair be treated?

Yes. Suitability is assessed individually during the consultation.

Does intense exercise reduce durability?

Age, metabolism, work, sport and sun exposure can affect longevity; periodic maintenance preserves the result.

What happens without maintenance?

The result gradually and evenly lightens, usually fading over 24–36 months depending on the person.

Do the pigment dots spread?

When the procedure is performed correctly, the pigment normally remains regular over time.

Can I exercise immediately afterwards?

Wait about one week so the pigment can stabilise correctly.

Can I go in the sun?

Sun exposure is possible after about one week; suitable sun protection is recommended.

Can a scar become invisible?

Camouflage can make a scar much less noticeable, but the outcome depends on its characteristics.

Alternatives and hair systems

How the treatment relates to transplants, hair systems and fibres.

Hair transplant or scalp micropigmentation?

They are complementary options. Micropigmentation can strengthen density after a transplant or help when the donor area is limited.

Can I remove a hair system and start immediately?

The scalp must first be healthy and free of redness, inflammation or dermatitis.

Can I keep my hair system until the final result?

This may be possible during the first stage; the timing is planned individually with the specialist.

Hair fibres or scalp micropigmentation?

Fibres are applied daily, while micropigmentation provides a stable visual effect without daily scalp application.
